Nearly to the busy season of the sales, to who will fabric buyers place orders? What kind of fabrics will be chosen by designers? Not long ago, the activities related to the two contests (China International Fabric Design Contest and China Professional Clothes Designers Creative Design Contest) were held in Keqiao, so the reporter had the opportunity to have an interview with the designers who often purchase fabrics.
The products that buyers look for are the best cost-effective products. Low price and high quality are the key issues buyers always concern about.
Xie Qing, purchasing director of Yishion Group said, as she knew, the quality of the fabrics produced by Japanese companies can reach the national standards; however, to the fabrics made by the Europe, many domestic products can not go beyond them for the fineness and good handle. But when she purchased fabrics, she did not always choose foreign products. Sometimes, she also chose the domestic fabrics when the products meet the requirements. Three requirements should be considered: First, the quality, the products should meet the national quality requirement; Second, personalized, the products have the unique features that others can not replace; Third, reasonable price, the prices must accord with the prices of finished clothes. What fabric manufacturers should do is to develop the products that meet the needs of target customers.
Wang Yijun, manager of home textile department of Carrefour Global Sourcing Asian Headquarter said, besides that product quality should meet their standards, they also consider about the products and the environmental protection in the process of production; Technically, they pay more attentions to whether the technical contains and product features meet the consuming habit of European consumers and whether the products appeal to them. In addition, the way of management and business concept are also the key element that they consider to cooperate. “For instance, the size, gram weight, price and other factors are taken into account.”
Zhang Peihua, professor of textile institute of Shanghai Donghua University revealed that high quality and personalization were the common things designers require. However, to reach these requirements, two aspects should be improved. One is the successful after-treatment, and the second is the application of new materials.
Xia Peng, design director of “Yi Pai, E Pai” studio from Shenyang Province told to the reporter, the long-term cooperation with the same suppliers would constrain the expansion of thought, unsuitable for the fashion industry. Therefore, designers like to contact more suppliers. Fabric suppliers who can provide the personalized products may become his suppliers.
