In 2008, the industrial enterprises above designated size produced 28.798 billion meters of printed and dyed fabrics. In it, the output of our county was 14.530 billion meters, accounting for 50.5%.

It is learned that the purpose of the second economic census is to know the development scale and the layout of the second industry and the third industry of our province, the current situation of the industrial organization, industrial structure and industrial technology, and the main production factors. This is a very comprehensive and authoritative survey. The printing and dyeing industry is not only the key sector of our county's textile industry, but also an important industry of processing and refining products and raising the added value of textile products in the whole textile industry. The printing and dyeing industry connects the manufacturing industry with garment and home textile industry. Therefore, the statistics of the industry is very important in the economic census.

Introduced by the county bureau of statistics, the first census was carried out in 2004. After four years, the result of the second economic census shows that our county's output in printed and dyed fabrics has increased 9.6 percent points from the first census. In this statistics, the output of bleached fabrics is 358 million meters, dyed fabrics 11.664 billion meters, printed fabrics 2.506 billion meters, accounting for 25.6%, 51.0% and 55.2% of the total separately. According to the statistics, in January-September, this year, the output of printed and dyed fabrics in our county has reached 11.113 billion meters, up by 10.5% from last year.

Output in printed and dyed fabrics accounted for a half of the total of the province is an affirmation to our county's keeping the advantage in the traditional printing and dyeing industry. It also means that our printing and dyeing companies will take more responsibility." The responsible person of the county printing and dyeing industry believes that our county's printing and dyeing enterprises should strengthen energy-saving and emission-reducing and make technological innovation in order to increase the added value of the provincial and national printing and dyeing industry, develop the industry to a higher level and promote a sustainable and healthy development of the industry. Meanwhile, the enterprises should change the industry from high-cost, high-consumption, high-emission and low-efficiency industry to low-cost, low-emission, high-technology, high-added value industry so as to let Shaoxing county's printing and dyeing industry's upgrade take the lead in the country.
