Shaoxing County has a long history of textile. Back to the era of Gou Jian, the King of Yue, the whole country was engaged in silkworm breading and weaving. In Sui and Tang Dynasties, ”Yueluo” became widely popular. Later in Ming and Qing Dynasties, the popularity of it was described as ”Huashe produced miles of silk daily”. At present, textile industry has become the pillar industry of Shaoxing County which is one of industrial group bases with vast textile production capacity. The county has nearly 10,000 textile-manufacturing enterprises, 50,000 advanced shuttleless looms and more than 200,000 employees. About 3 million tons of various kinds of chemical fibers, 19 billion meters of printing & dyeing cloth and 300 million pieces /sets of costume are produced here every year. The annual textile output value and sales turnover both reach RMB 100 billion Yuan. It has basically formed a complete industry chain from PTA, weaving, home textile and costume.
