Publish Time:2009-02-11
“Wow, how interesting Taiji Sword performance is!” On the afternoon of Jan. 15th, a Spring Festival Entertainment Program for Foreigners was held in Jinchang Kaiyuan Hotel. An Indian businessman, Mr. Hemant can’t help following the performance of two people from Shaoxing County Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Bureau.
To enrich the spare time activities for foreigners in Shaoxing, Shaoxing County Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Bureau held the first Spring Festival Entertainment Program for Foreigners at the advent of the coming Chinese Year of Bull. Over 30 foreigners from India, Japan and Yemen, and relevant persons from related organizations had a get-together and immersed in a deeply Chinese New Year atmosphere.
Various wonderful activities featured with Chinese tradition were prepared by the organizers, such as Taiji Sword, bamboo flute solo etc. In addition, other activities such as fishing competition, foreigners’ learning calligraphy, foreigners’ tongue twister etc. made everyone on the spot feel delightful heartily.
Abudi, a person from Kenya, showed great interest in traditional Chinese culture after he came to Keqiao. In the game of “foreigners learning Chinese calligraphy”, Abudi tried his best to write down 9 Chinese characters. What disappointed him to the most is that the spectators couldn’t read his words! “How hard the Chinese writing is! I tried my best just now. Well, I plan to learn it better in 2009.” Abudi revealed to the reporter, he will take his son from Africa to Keqiao to learn Chinese culture, and then he will learn together with his son.
Among all the splendid foreigners’ performances, an Indian lady won tides of applauses by her English song. Ten foreign kids at the age of five or six years brought laughter and pleasure for everyone there through chanting “Happy New Year” in Chinese.
