Shaoxing County has the fame of "Textile Base of China ", and is the weaving base county in China. The weaving industry in Shaoxing County is based on tatting, all other trades such as the filature, spinning, knitting, printing and dying and clothes trades are developing roundly, and it is the pillar industry of the economy of the county. It has more than 35,000 weaving machines without shuttles of international advanced standard, it annually produces 3.5billion meters of weaving outside materials of all kinds, it is able to print and dye 8.6billion meters of materials annually, it produces 1.2million tons of chemical fiber materials yearly, the consumption of chemical fiber materials is 25% of the total volume of the county, the weaving industry accounts for 75% of the gross industrial output value of the whole county, and the textile accounts for 15% of the products of the same kind in the whole country. Textiles are regarded as Shaoxing’s first largest re-export commodity with a trade value is 3.4billion in 2005.
